7 young ladies officially launched as contestants for DSC Mas Jamboree Pageant on February 23, 201712/7/2016 Photo: Miss DSC Mas Jamboree Facebook Page Seven (7) young ladies have officially been launched, as contestants for the eighth (8th) edition of the Dominica State College (DSC) Mas Jamboree Pageant, scheduled to take place on 23rd February 2017. The ladies were launched at a ceremony held at the Dominica State College, on Tuesday, December 6, 2016. They are Tanisha Augustine, Natalia Jno Baptiste, Shyanne Dorsette, Dana Peltier, Tonilia Eli, Norma Benjamin and Lecresha Wallace, the 2015 Miss Teen Dominica.
Director of Student Services at the DSC, Edgar Hunter noted that although the pageant is still at its infant stage of growth, it is making “a tremendous contribution” to Dominica’s carnival calendar of events. He said “DSC Mas Jamboree can take pride in the fact that it is presently the major marketing tool of the state college. Our success is rooted in the fact, that in our actions we are guided by the motto of our beloved college, ‘Beyond quality and excellence’. Therefore, we are always able to endure, that with hard work and excellence, Mas Jamboree is a top tier product, that can stand the test of time globally,” he stated. Hunter also said this pageant will be “the best ever”, because of the varied talents that each contestant possesses. “I am so excited about these contestants. Not only are they beautiful and intelligent, but they are extremely talented. Among the group of seven, is a former Miss Teen Dominica, a first runner up in the Miss Teen Caribbean, and two first runners up in the Miss Teen Dominica. Some are dancers, some are singers, some can dramatize, and some are accomplished musicians. They are a multitalented bunch,” Hunter noted. He appealed to the business community to support the pageant in hopes of making it better as hosting an event of this magnitude is a costly exercise. “Your partnership could be by sponsoring one of the contestants or by sponsoring the overall event itself. Sponsorship of Mas Jamboree provides you with a remarkable opportunity to profile your company’s image as a good cooperate citizen, and to increase sales and branding,” Hunter further stated. The show is scheduled for February 23rd 2017 at the Windsor Park Stadium’s Forecourt at 5:00 p.m., with performances by Triple Kay International and Asa Bantan, as well as Janae Jackson, the DSC School Band, and Tasha P.
