A project geared towards the proper disposal of recyclable materials gets underway next month2/25/2016 A project geared towards the proper disposal of recyclable materials will get underway in Dominica by the 3rd week of March. That’s according to the Acting General Manager of the Dominica Solid Waste Management Corporation (DSWMC) Florian Mitchel. On Monday the Corporation received in excess of $100,000 from the Swiss Consulate and the Dominica Red Cross for the procurement of a retrofitted recyclable truck. Meantime, Mitchel says although a few recyclable pilot projects were implemented the equipment being utilized wasn’t essential to separate the materials coming into the landfill. And Minister for Health & the Environment Dr Kenneth Darroux says the procurement of a retrofitted recyclable truck will not only allow for better management of the landfill, but it will also lend support to the country’s economy. He says there are endless benefits which will be derived from this initiative.
