A Section of the West Coast road collapsed late Saturday night to early Sunday morning this past weekend in the Dublanc area, and motorists traveling on the E.O. Leblanc Highway are asked to exercise due caution.
According to reports, that portion of the road in the area actually began falling apart after the passage of Tropical Storm Erika on August 27, 2016. This weekend’s collapse may have been aggravated by consistent rainfall over the past 48 hours or so. The Dominica Meteorological Service had earlier advised that weak unstable conditions are affecting the island, and that increased cloudiness and rainfall were expected for the next 24 to 48 hours. As a result of the collapse, traffic had been significantly reduced to the use of one lane on that segment of the road. Q95 will bring you more detailed reports on that situation in later news updates.
