As regional costs of pharmaceuticals increase Acting Prime Minister, Petter Saint Jean, has called for “proactive strategies” to tackle the increasing demands of funding medical care in the region. Addressing the Third Meeting of the Council of Ministers of Health of Member States and Thirtieth Meeting of the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) /Pooled Procurement Services (PPS) Policy Board at the Fort Young Hotel on Wednesday, Saint Jean stated that small island states continue to struggle with health care costs therefore proactive strategies are necessary to address the increasing demands of health care funding. Over 40 participants comprising Health Ministers, Permanent Secretaries and officials from OECS/PPS (Pharmaceuticals Procurement Service) , the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank and other technical observers are attending the meeting.
