January 2017 is Drug Awareness Month in Dominica, and Acting Minister for Health & the Environment Ivor Stephenson, is calling for new approaches in dealing with the issue of drug use in Dominica.
The awareness month which is part of efforts by the Drug Abuse Prevention Unit, to raise awareness about the harmful use of drugs, is this year being observed under the theme "Listen First."
Stephenson says over the past year, Drug Prevention efforts have focused on raising the awareness of the dangers and ills of drug use, among vulnerable populations.
But in his address to officially mark this month on Monday morning, the Acting Minster said, a very simple concept is required in order to build on the successes of past programs and activities.
Stephenson is also urging parents to pay greater attention to what their children are saying and doing.
