Agriculture Minister among Caribbean Government representatives at FAO regional conference in Mexico3/3/2016 A Regional Conference of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations comes to an end today in Mexico City.
Dominica's Agriculture Minister, Johnson Drigo, is among 33 Government representatives from Latin America and the Caribbean in attendance. The conference was held in an effort to deepen joint efforts to eradicate hunger and malnutrition. Drigo, in an online post on social media site, www.facebook.com, said the main focus was the challenges and prospects for food and nutrition security in the region, and conducting a review of the measures that led to the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals to the challenges they face towards meeting the sustainable development goals. Meanwhile, FAO's Regional Representative, Raúl Benitez, says "This shows that we can make great progress in little time if governments give political priority to this issue," noting that the agreements reached at the FAO Regional Conference will foster progress towards the goal of ending hunger and malnutrition. The conference took place from February 29 to March 3, 2016.
