Ambassador Vince Henderson insists DLP government is on track to meet set geothermal energy goals8/5/2016 Dominica’s Ambassador Vince Henderson insists that the DLP government is still on track to meet set geothermal energy goals. He says while the results may not be as dramatic as envisioned, there will be a reduction in energy costs. Geothermal energy has been a goal of the Dominican government over the past few years, and over EC $80 million in investments have already been made, to develop the island’s geothermal energy potential. Henderson believes that the pursuit of geothermal energy is another step towards ensuring the resilience by the country. Dominica was recently reportedly named CARICOM’s forerunner, in the use of renewable sources of energy, by a new ECLAC study entitled “Barriers to Identification & Implementation of Energy Efficiency Mechanisms, and Enhancing Renewable Energy Technologies in the Caribbean”, having achieved 28% of its present electricity generation from hydropower and wind.
