Director of Crime Stoppers Dominica, Stewart Paris, is encouraging all Dominicans to help prevent crime, and also help law enforcement authorities to solve ongoing investigations.

The Environment Health Department, is currently executing a positively aggressive promotional campaign, advising Dominicans, to all in their power to eliminate and prevent mosquito breeding.
Consultant of Medicine, Dr. Mitt Thomas, says that it is significant that we as a people keep our environment clean and mosquito free, the doctor also advised that Dominicans must all so where long sleeves at night and use mosquito repellents. Business leaders from different sectors in Dominica, have gathered to discuss priority training areas, in an effort to strengthen Dominica’s workforce and the productive sectors. This is taking place under the theme “Development in Action: Insights from Successful Leaders.”
In light of this, The Dominica Association of Industry & Commerce (DAIC) hosted an Executive Breakfast with featured speakers from the Cave Hill School of Business / University of the West Indies, on Tuesday January 26, 2016 at the Fort Young Hotel. The DAIC says based on studies conducted, it has been found that negative attitudes and reluctance to take initiative, as well as the lack of ‘soft skills”, are amongst the deficiencies affecting productivity in the workplace. As a result, the organization says it recognizes the need for assessment of the training needs of Dominica’s workforce, and will use findings from the Executive Breakfast discussion, to drive its 2016 training program. DFC Promoter Val Cuffy calls for considerate reaction to judges decisions at carnival competitions1/28/2016 DFC Promoter, Val Cuffy, is calling on all Dominicans to be more considerate in the reactions to the judges’ decisions, arising from competitions during the Carnival season.
Cuffy says all judges in every Carnival competition are qualified for judging, and stated that he is not pleased with the reaction of the public, to the decisions made by the judges in the carnival princess pageant, which was held at the Harlem Plaza on 24th January 2016. Carnival Princess Rayne Benjamin, was negatively criticised on social media. Cuffy requests that persons refrain from posting abusive comments. He says “The judging of the shows in Dominica is left to those charged to do this, and it is regrettable that sometimes we take it so personal”. Environmental Health Department stresses the importance of Food Handlers becoming certified1/28/2016 With the Carnival season in full swing, preparing safe food for sale is of paramount importance to the Environmental Health Officials. Environmental Health Officer, Zilma Charles says it is important that persons within that industry become certified with a Food Handlers Permit. The certification is being offered to the general public at a cost of EC$20.00 and entails two processes, food handlers education sessions and medicals which certify that one is in a good state of health. Charles outlines some of the topics covered during the education sessions. With the permit valid for only one year, food handlers are required to attend a refresher's class to qualify for renewal.
Foreign Affairs Minister, Francine Baron, wants a program introduced by JICA to be restarted in the future. According to Baron, under the JOCV program, JICA has provided skilled Japanese volunteers who she says were instrumental in the social and economic development of Dominica. JICA is a government agency that coordinates official development assistance (ODA) for the government of Japan. It is charged with assisting economic and social growth in developing countries, and promotion of international cooperation .

As a stakeholder and beneficiary of the program, he argues that the island’s CBI Program is transparent. He claims that the government of Dominica engages in a vigorous due diligence program before making selections. President of APEX Capital Partners Nuri Katz Meantime, Dominica’s Permanent Representative and Ambassador to the United Nations Dr Vince Henderson had refuted claims that Dominica’s Economic Citizenship program is reckless. Henderson says claims by the opposition that the CBI is corrupt are politically motivated. He says if anything, the CBI program is conducted in a manner to protect the integrity of the country. Miracle Mission Agreement signed to commence free eye surgery to less fortunate Dominicans1/28/2016 An agreement to commence free eye surgery and optimal care to the less fortunate in Dominica was officially signed Wednesday. Miracle Mission – the world famous eye care program, an initiative carried out by ALBA will soon get underway following the signing agreement between health minister Dr Kenneth Darroux and the Ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to Dominica His Excellency Hayden Perela-Sanchez. Dr Darroux says the aim of the program is not to interfere with the program that is currently under the way in Dominica, but rather to enhance what is already there. Meantime, Dr Darroux says the ministry will undergo a massive screening program in the upcoming months to identify persons who are most in need.
