Other calypsonians in the line-up include Deryck ‘De Hunter’ St Rose, Scrunter, Davidson ‘Observer’ Victor, Chester ‘Daddy Chess’ Letang, Val “Young Bull’ Cuffy, Murphy ‘Sye’ Jno Jules, Trendsetter and Janae Jackson, among others.Charles said “You will be hearing some of the new calypsos for 2016”. He called on the public to support the event, which will showcase “a bread basket of calypsos from both sides of fence”. “We take pride in bringing a balanced diet to the multitudes in every edition,” Charles stated. Entrance fee is for the event is $25.Subsequently, the Stardom Calypso Tents will take place as usual on Wednesday nights.

The DFC held its first Press conference for “The Real Mas Domnik 2016” on 30th December 2015, at its conference room in the financial Centre in Roseau.Master of Ceremony Val Cuffy, gave welcoming remarks and shared his excitement about the upcoming events for Mas Domnik 2016. Cuffy noted that Calypso is always one of the highlight Events in Dominica’s Carnival, and this year is no different.

At a Carnival press conference after Clarke’s departure, the DDA had advised that an Executive Director would be appointed to coordinate Carnival activities, however the process has been delayed. Cuffy-Jno Jules said at the first press conference of ‘The Real Mas’ 2016 held at the DFC office today Wednesday 30th December 2015, the delay was due to the passage of Tropical Storm Erika, which affected the island on August 27, 2015. “I think in my mind, based on discussions at management level, this is a process that has taken place in the past between the Ministry of Tourism, as well as Discover Dominica Authority and the DFC. Most of our time resources have been spent in rebuilding Dominica Post Tropical Storm Erika,” she stated. “The process has not stopped, it’s continuing and we should have an Executive Director in place at least before the next World Creole Music Festival 2016”. According to police reports, after the execution of a search warrant by the Drug Squad Unit at the home of 20-year old Nickel James of Silver Lake, 245g of alleged cannabis weed and 218g of alleged cocaine were recovered. Police PRO, Sergeant Pelham Jno Baptiste says 20-year old Nickel James Dwight Benoit, both of Silver Lake and Kurvin Joseph, 21, of Massacre were detained.

However, Roseau South MP Joshua Francis is concerned about the manner in which a search warrant may have been executed, if one was in fact executed, at the home of a Silver Lake resident that Monday.Francis is the Attorney representing the three men arrested at Silver Lake on suspicion of possession of, and of possession with intent to supply cocaine and cannabis weed, has concerns about the protection of the children concerned.
Residents on Monday, alleged that police stormed into the community in a manner which seemed injurious to them and their children. Francis questions the reason police converging on Silver Lake more often than on any other community in Dominica. He says now is the time to properly assess that community, and develop a vision aimed at uplifting the image and welfare of the people who live there.
