Assistant superintendent of police Richmond Valentine, warns persons to refrain from criminal activity during the Carnival Celebrations. He says Police will heighten security, to prevent criminal activities during the two days of Carnival street jump up on February 8th and 9th 2016. Valentine added, “police officers who are on duty, will remove anyone found committing criminal acts from the band, and take them to a place of safety, for the duration of the two days of street jump up.” Valentine made it clear that the police presence during this year’s Carnival celebration will not only be seen, but it will be felt, and if you are causing negative disruption to any of the Carnival activities, “The next time you will see the streets of Roseau will be on Ash Wednesday.” He warned that no one should enter any bands with weapons.
