Athie Martin says dictatorship is evidenced when the government of a country places itself above the law. He contends that the recent $18 million contract signed by the DLP Government with Barbadian Construction Company NSG for the West Bridge Construction project, is an instance where the government blatantly violated Dominica’s Procurement Act, and thereby disregarded the country’s law. He says this behaviour is symptomatic of steps toward dictatorship in the country. Martin is also of the view, that through the red clinic, government is burying the dignity of the Dominican people, rather than building it.
Martin says critics of the red clinic have come under unjustifiable attack by the DLP Administration, who falsely claim that critics are saying that those who are in need should not be helped. Martin says this is a false claim by the DLP Administration, and is reiterating his call for job creation with proper management, so that no one goes hungry.
