Attorney Alick Lawrence and his brother Dr Michael Lawrence promise to build a 200-room hotel at Picard Beach in Portsmouth, under the Citizenship by Investment (CBI) Program. That project was officially launched at the State House in Roseau today. The project is to be called ‘Silver Beach Resort and Spa’.
In addressing the launch ceremony on Monday 9th January, Director of Silver Beach Development, Dr Michael Lawrence, said one of the core objectives of that development project is to provide jobs for the people of Dominica, and to assist in improving the economy of the country. Dr. Lawrence informed that “The project will create hundreds of jobs for Dominicans during the construction and post-construction phases”. He stated that entrepreneurs and vendors will have great opportunities to establish partnerships with the management of Silver Beach, and to provide goods and services to the hotel. Dr. Lawrence added that the hotel will also establish partnership with local farmers, and will provide them with another market for their produce. He also noted that Silver Beach will provide training for Dominicans, locally, regionally and internationally, and will provide the skills required by them, for employment in the hospitality industry. He said “As we are sons of the soil, Silver Beach will be deeply entrenched in the community, and will provide assistance to different social projects”.
