This delegation is being led by Former Prime Minister and Banana Grower, Edison James. According to James, this meeting is to discuss ways in which the BAM project can better facilitate banana farmers moving forward, as well as to discuss building back relations with the UK Export Market and others as was previously done in the past. This meeting comes at a time when banana farmers here are encountering problems in finding markets to sell their produce. Meanwhile, Minister of Agriculture, Johnson Drigo, says that another market has been sourced for exporting bananas and added that his ministry continues to work closely with its banana famers.
He is of the view that the local markets here are not yet saturated and believes that there are market for the Banana Farmers of the Northeast locally.
