Dominica’s banana and plantain plants have received a boost. These crops suffered a major blow from the Black Sigatoka disease and Monday fertilizers and oil amounting to some $2.3M was handed over to the Ministry of Agriculture.
The $20,000 bags of fertilizers for the plantain and banana sub-sector and 34,000 gallons of oil for the maintenance of the black sigatoka disease were provided from the NAO’s Office under the BAM program.
Agriculture Minister Johnson Drigo says the donation is fitting following the series of pounding these crops received from the Black Sigatoka disease.
