Ben Lehrer is the winner of the Tourism Youth Congress, making this win a two year victory for Orion Academy.
The Tourism Youth Congress which was held at the Alliance Française on May 5, 2016 featured participation of nine secondary schools across the island. According to a release, the Tourism Youth Congress is mirrored on the regional Tourism Youth Congress organized by the Caribbean Tourism Organisation during its annual State of the Industry Conference. Students present their ideas on selected tourism topics in the first round, and respond to a mystery question in the second. Topics for this year’s competition focused on the customer’s perception of the brand, fostering entrepreneurship and creating flow or total involvement experiences. Ben Lehrer, winner of the Tourism Youth Congress will now hold the title of Junior Minister of Tourism and will represent Dominica at the regional Tourism Youth Congress carded for September 14 – 16, 2016 in Barbados. First runner up was Ellena Commodore of the Convent High School and Ellena Benjamin of Wesley High School. The Tourism Youth Congress is an annual event organized as part of Tourism Awareness Month celebrations in May.
