Body of Petite Soufriere who went missing Saturday found in waters off Castle Bruce earlier today8/30/2016 The body of a man from Petite Soufriere, identified as 70-year-old Alphonsus Darroux, and also known as ‘Brother’ or ‘Rabbit’, who reportedly went missing on Saturday, was found in waters off the coast of Castle Bruce earlier today.
Sources from the area said Darroux went rock fishing on Saturday, and when he did not return by 5:00 pm, his companion alerted the village council and the disaster management committee in the area. A search party was launched on Sunday, but Darroux was not found. Another search party including the police, went out in search for the missing man on Monday, but that effort was also unsuccessful. This morning (Tuesday 30th August), information was received to the effect that a body was seen floating in the water near an area called “Lilet”, off Castle Bruce. The police were alerted and the coast guard picked up the body, which was identified as Darroux’s. Residents of the area indicated that Darroux was well known in the community, and was also very popular. Q95 will provide an official police report on the incident as soon as it becomes available.
