And Calypsonian Daryl Bobb says the lack of alcohol did not affect the flow of the Kings of Kings Calypso Extravaganza in New York. This year King of Kings Calypso Extravaganza promoter/organizer Anna-Marie Clarke came under fire again, this time for not obtaining a liquor license to enable her to sell alcohol during the show. Bobb says based on the criticisms, it appears that patrons would not like the show to continue, but there are positive aspects which none of the critics acknowledge. He went on to say that alcohol could have been served in large quantities at the event, however, the alternative could have been worse, as patrons on their way home under the influence could have been hurt or killed. Last year the King of Kings calypso show was shutdown denying many artists a chance to perform when US fire marshals shut down the venue due to violation of certain New York City fire codes.
