CARDI offices across the Region hosted a wide variety of events yesterday, Monday December 5th 201612/6/2016 CARDI Day is an annual event on the Caribbean Agricultural Research Institute’s calendar, which is dedicated to building awareness and promoting the work of the Institute. CARDI offices across the Region hosted a variety of events, which included field tours, exhibitions, school tours, public lectures and seminars, to commemorate this day. A major focus of the day’s activities in Dominica included the sharing of research results with the general public, partners, collaborators, public sector and other stakeholders, on: The Evaluation of Banana and Plantain accessions to the Black Sigatoka Disease, and the Characterization of Dasheen Cultivars in Dominica The seminar was held at the University of the West Indies Auditorium on Elmshall Road, and starts at 9:30 am. CARDI’s Executive Director, Barton Clarke has more: December 5th is a symbolic day for the Institute, as it is on this day in 1974, Government representatives signed the Agreement establishing CARDI in Georgetown, Guyana.
