The Centre of Excellence will officially open on Friday June 3, 2016 at the Upper Campus of the Dominica State College.
In 2011, the Government of the Commonwealth of Dominica signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of the Republic of India for the establishment of a Centre of Excellence in Information Technology in Dominica. According to a release, the primary objectives of this bilateral arrangement were to generate ICT knowledge and awareness among citizens of the latest technologies, to generate direct and indirect employment through ICT, to develop and produce world class IT Programmers and to offer short and long-term courses in a variety of ICT subject matters. The arrangements also include training of Government officials in ICT, to upgrade the skills of the ICT Faculty in all schools and the Dominica State College, to develop and expand e-learning initiatives to train locals as Trainer of Trainers and to exchange experts. The Centre of Excellence in Information Technology is now fully established and is equipped with top quality hardware, software and other equipment to enable the delivery of technical training in Information Technology.
