On Wednesday June 1st, 2016, Kellyn George, Founder & CEO of the Sickle Cell Cares Foundation & 2015 Queen’s Young Leader from the Commonwealth of Dominica, met with His Excellency Sir Peter Allan, Governor General of Jamaica to discuss the initiatives of the Queen’s Young Leader’s Program in the Caribbean Region.
The meeting was a courtesy call in light of the visit of Dr Astrid Bonfield, CEO of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Trust, on her tour of the Caribbean Region. Also in attendance were the Queen’s Young Leaders of Jamaica 2015 & 2016, partners and grantees of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Trust. Ms George stated that, “It was indeed an honour to meet with the Governor General of Jamaica, Dr Bonfield of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Trust and the prestigious Queen’s Young Leaders. Your Excellency I enjoyed the spirited dialogue.” Ms George also stated that she has plans to improve the health and wellness of the Caribbean Region. The visit was held at the King’s House in Jamaica, the official residence of the Governor General. Ms George is currently the Regional Representative of the Caribbean & the Americas for the Queen’s Young Leaders.
