Changing Boiling Lake levels doesn’t signal a looming volcanic eruption says; UWI SRC Scientist
A recent situation at the Boling Lake has raised concerns among members of the public, about the implications for locals & visitors alike.
The Office of Disaster Management and the Forestry Division last week issued a statement, advising people against visiting the Boiling Lake, as a result of changes in the water levels in the Lake.
The situation is being monitored by scientists at the UWI Seismic Research Centre. Officials indicate that the lake levels have dropped significantly in the past, and subsequently restored itself at least seven times in its past recorded history.
However, Scientist at the UWI Seismic Research Centre (SRC), Dr. Erouscilla Joseph, sought to reassure members of the public, that this phenomenon does not signal an imminent volcanic eruption on island.
