Chief Education officer speaks out against people harbouring those who sexually abuse children2/18/2016 Dominica’s Chief Education officer is speaking out against persons who she says harbour persons who sexually abuse children. Melena Fontaine says some parents refuse to report abuse on their children because the perpetrators are the bread winners of the family. She says however these situations destroy the lives of the children who sometimes never recover from the abuse. Dominica’s Chief Education Officer Melena Fontaine Meanwhile, sexual abuse statistics from the Child Abuse Prevention Unit shows approximately 128 reported cases of children were sexually abused in Dominica in 2015. And the Coordinator of that Unit Gemma Azilla Lewis says child abuse continues to be a growing problem in Dominica.
