Chief Physical Planner, Kelvin Rolle, says the National Land Use Policy will address the issue of building on river beds particularly in light of the destruction caused by TS Erika. Dominica commenced the 2nd phase of a National Land Use Policy late last year. Phase 1 of the project; the development of a National Land Use Policy approved by cabinet in May 2015, provides direction for use issues related to land use planning in Dominica. The National Land Use Policy sets the foundation for all land use decisions and describes how best to manage development to improve quality of life for Dominicans through economic and social development, protecting human health and safety and conserving the natural environment. Now phase 2 of the project entails the preparation of the National Physical Development Plan and will be guided by the NLUP. It will also provide government agencies with a comprehensive planning framework for the efficient and effective coordination of development programs and projects. Chief Physical Planner Kelvin Rolle
