The funds were handed over Monday morning at the Office of Disaster Management in Jimmit. Hurricane Matthew wreaked through Haiti on October 4 and the category 4 storm, the strongest to hit the Caribbean in a decade devastated large parts of the island and affected 2.1M people. The Haitian Government estimates 1.5M people are in need of immediate assistance, including more than 140,000 people who are living in temporary shelters. And immediately following the storm, Dominica's PM Roosevelt Skerrit appealed to the business community here to assist Haiti. General manager of Clear Harbour Dominica is Luther Seay. The Government of Dominica also pledged US$100,000 towards immediate assistance to Haiti, following the passage of the hurricane.
