Concerns mount re DLP Administration’s reluctance to account for the Petro Caribe agreement proceeds
In recent Venezuelan Elections, President Nicholas Maduro’s Socialist Party suffered its first significant defeat in sixteen (16) years. Former assistant chief education officer Arundel Thomas stated that despite PM Skerrit’s boasts of being in charge of the agreement, the funding from oil sales has been unaccounted for however the new government has already made plans to look into the Petro Caribe agreement.
Thomas expects that the new government of Venezuela will improve the relationship between Dominica and Venezuela making it a relationship between two sovereign countries. As well as begin inquiries into the large sums of money owed by Dominica under the Petro Caribe agreement.
