Contributors will accompany Lennox Linton in delivering EC$79,324 to Mr Keiron Pinard-Byrne today1/21/2016 Opposition Leader Lennox Linton, along with a number of persons who contributed to the funds raised to pay Chartered Accountant Keiron-Pinard Byrne, are expected to deliver the payment of EC$79,324.86 to Pinard-Byrne's lawyers this morning at 10am. Linton has to pay Pinard Byrne for defamation. The matter which has been going on for fourteen years, is centred around comments made by then journalist Lennox Linton, related to the Economic citizenship program, and the Layou River Hotel project, for which Pinard-Byrne said he was libelled. Over $100,000 was contributed by Dominicans both here and abroad to assist Linton with his legal expenses. Linton says he is still awaiting the final cost determination from the appeal court and the privy council.
Last week, Linton stated that the balance of these funds will either go towards covering his remaining costs, or to the legal defence for the Salisbury residents, who are now before the court, for staging protest actions last year.
