Court Reporter says PM Skerrit may have violated the Constitution in appointing Daniel Carbon Police Chief
Some citizens appear to be of the view that Prime Minister Skerrit may have violated Dominica’s Constitution, in the process of appointing Police Chief Daniel Carbon in 2012.
Court Reporter Carlisle Jno Baptiste quoted section 92.1 part 3 of Dominica’s Constitution, which outlines the protocol which must be followed, when removing or appointing a Police Chief in Dominica.
However, it was reported that Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit decided to temporarily appoint Daniel Carbon as police chief, to replace outgoing Police Commissioner Cyril Carrette in July 2012, after which a more suitable individual was reportedly supposed to be sought out, for purposes of appointment as Police Chief.
