At a recently held Crime Stoppers International Conference, Crime Stoppers Dominica was awarded the GARY MURPHY GLOBAL VISION AWARD 2016.
The Dominican program was nominated for the award in recognition of achieving proficiency and positive results throughout Dominica and as a dedicated and effective Crime Stoppers Programme.
The Dominica program helped Crime Stoppers International to achieve its ongoing mission which is “To mobilize the world to provide information on crime anonymously”
Crime Stoppers Dominica became a fully functional programme in the first quarter of 2013. Under the leadership of businesswoman Genevieve Astaphan, the programme’s first Chairman, Crime Stoppers Dominica quickly gained awareness and credibility in the island.
As a result the programme has achieved remarkable success in terms of the number of actionable calls received and number of arrests that the Police has been able to make as a result of information provided by the public to Crime Stoppers Dominica. In 2016, Stewart Paris was appointed Chairman of Crime Stoppers Dominica.
