Cruise Passengers and holiday makers call for safety assessments of Dominica local tour excursions11/14/2016 Just days after a crash resulting in the death of a British woman and injury of nine other cruise passengers in Dominica, holidaymakers have voiced fresh concerns about taking part in island trips.
As photos surfaced of the horrifying collision, current and former P&O cruise passengers took to the firm's Facebook page viewing the incident as “an accident waiting to happen.” Passengers appealed to the P&O firm for thorough safety assessments of Dominica’s expeditions, while others criticized the road and transportation conditions claiming they will not participate in any excursions on island in the future. This is not the first tragic incident to occur during an excursion in Dominica resulting in the death of a foreigner, raising even more concerns about road safety from visitors to the island. Dominica, known as the nature isle of the Caribbean, is notorious for its mountainous terrain and frequent hairpin bends in certain parts of the island which require advanced driving skills to manoeuvre. This can easily strike fear into foreigners navigating the island however, many travel guides continue to praise the island for its rustic charm.
