Current Chairman Prime Minister Skerrit highlights achievements of CARICOM in year-end message12/22/2016 Current CARICOM Chairman, Dominica’s Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit, has released his end of year message, highlighting the achievements of the Caribbean Community as well as stressing the strength and value of togetherness and community spirit.
Highlighting the 50th Independence Anniversary of both Barbados and Guyana in November and May, he described these celebrations as an example of the spirit and substance of unity that, all must embrace, in order to advance the community’s interests domestically and globally. He went on to recall the demonstration of unity displayed in the face of severe devastation, when Hurricane Matthew gutted Haiti and the Bahamas, and also at the passing of late Cuban President Fidel Castro. In his conclusion, Mr Skerrit called for CARICOM citizens to continue to demonstrate the care for each other that will strengthen the Community in spirit and substance, and recommit themselves in the coming year, to the pursuit of a prosperous, healthy & safe Community for all.
