The Dominica Cricket Association (DCA) U-19 Cricket Competition which began on Saturday, September 17th, 2016 will culminate this Saturday, October 8th at the Botanical Gardens.
In the finals, the South District will face off against the South West District in the 50-over format of the game. According to a release, in the round-robin competition leading up to the finals, South beat West by 6 wickets and North by 7 wickets to gain 6 points, while the South West team beat East and West and won the North team by 8 wickets and the South team by 80 runs to amass 12 points. The South team is being led by National U-19 Captain Alick Athanaze who is also a Windwards U-19 player and a former Windwards U-15 and U-17 player. The team will also feature Jahseon Alexander, a National U-19 and Windwards U-17 player, former Windwards U-15 player and a member of the West Indies U-16 team to England in August of this year. Captaining the South West team is Tahj Tavernier, a National U-19 player, Windwards U-17 player and former Windwards U-15 player who also represented the West Indies on the U-16 Team earlier this year. He will be joined by Terrel Toussaint, a National U-19 player, Kassim Peltier, a National U-19 and Windwards U-19 player and Daneal Dupigny, a National U-19 and U-17 player and former Windwards U-15 player.
