Dca/China Friendship Bridge has been reopened and works commence on Bailey Bridge at Boetica

​The Dominica/China Friendship Bridge has now officially reopened after almost four months of being closed down. The bridge suffered damages following the passage of Tropical Storm Erika on August 27, 2015.
 
Minister for Tourism & Urban Renewal Robert Tonge, made the disclosure on his Facebook page on Sunday December 20, 2015. He stated "The Friendship bridge is now reopened, leading to less traffic congestion in Roseau. Thanks to all who worked hard". Meanwhile, Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit announced Monday that construction of the Bailey Bridge at the Boetica Gorge has finally commenced.
 
The bridge that connected Boetica and Delices was washed away during Tropical Storm Erika. Since August 27, 2015, the two communities have been cut off from the rest of the island.Earlier this month, LaPlaine MP Petter St. Jean expressed his dissatisfaction in the manner in which works were progressing. He called on officials of the Ministry of Public Works to display a greater level of diligence in the supervision of projects post Tropical Storm Erika.
