DCOA concerned with the increasing number of cases of missing elderly persons in recent times11/11/2016 The Dominica Council on Ageing (DCOA) says it is concerned with the increasing number of missing elderly persons in recent times. President of the DCOA, Zetma Toussaint, told state radio this week, this appears to be happening very often these days, and is raising the level of concern of the council. Toussaint says they will be taking steps to raise the level of consciousness of persons dealing with the elderly, particularly family members and caretakers. She says it is important that persons do all possible to safeguard the elderly, and particularly those suffering from senile dementia. Earlier this month, an elderly woman residing in Tarreau was reported missing.
According to relatives, Veronica Daniel, 86, was last seen on the morning of Tuesday November 1st. On October 4, 81-year old Ettienne Charles, also known as “Charlo,” from the Kalinago Territory, left his home for the Kalinago Council Office and has not been seen since. On Saturday, October 23, 79-year-old Lawrence Joseph, from Vieille Case, disappeared from Bath Estate without a trace. His body was fished out of the Roseau River on Saturday November 5th 2016.
