Activities for the “Month of the Elderly”, being observed this month, continue this week with Bitin Gwan Moun “Fashion Show Style.
On Friday, the elderly will present a fashion show as part of “Bitin Gwan Moun” at the Anchorage Hotel. "Seniors in Swimwear on the Runway is a real possibility," says one of the organisers. During the Month of the Elderly, the Dominica Council on Ageing (DCOA) is leading the nation in recognizing and celebrating the valuable work of senior citizens. The theme for this year's observance of the Month of the Elderly is: “Seniors & Youths – Building Age-Friendly Communities”. Other activities for the observance of the Month of the Elderly are: observance of the Feast of La Salette on September 19th, Dollar Day in schools on September 23rd, A National Activity at the Windsor Park Sport Stadium on September 25th, A National Consultation on the 3rd Caribbean Conference on Elderly Abuse on September 29th and observance of International Day of Older Persons on October 1st. The Dominica Council on Ageing called on all to show support during the observance of the Month of the Elderly 2016.
