DHTA President Gregor Nassief now supports the notion of establishing a Dominica National AirlineĀ1/20/2016 President of the Dominica Hotel and Tourism Association (DHTA) and Local Hotelier Gregor Nassief, wants greater attention to be given to the establishment of a national airline in Dominica.
With a number of calls being made for the establishment of an International Airport for Dominica, Nassief says while he supports the need for an international airport as a medium to long term goal, significant efforts must be made at driving the demand for Dominica. He told Q95's Hot Seat Host Mathias Peltier Wednesday, "we just don't have that quantum of persons that want to come to Dominica". He argues that at present, there are seven international airports in close proximity to Dominica, which attract close to ten million visitors a year, and the DDA is seeking to establish connections with these hubs to Dominica, to sync with the incoming and outgoing international flights. Nassief says while good partnerships already exist with some of these hubs which include St. Maarten, Puerto Rico, and Antigua & Barbuda, a number of them still remain with very low level of service to Dominica. He says a local airline would assist in controlling traffic to these hubs.
