DMA 1st Vice President appalled at how quickly Dominica has forgotten about closure of the DCP factory
1st Vice President of the Dominica Manufacturers Association (DMA) Severin McKenzie says the “Buy Dominica Supercenter” currently carries products from forty-six local producers. He says it is encouraging to see Dominicans being able to purchase genuine Dominican products without competition from imported products. However, while it is encouraging the “Buy Dominica Supercentre” has also exposed flaws in manufacturing in Dominica.
Meanwhile, McKenzie says he is appalled at how quickly Dominicans have forgotten about the closure of the Dominica Coconut Products factory, which originally provided gainful employment for more than 200 Dominicans. He laments that there are no conversations taking place about what should be done about what was one of Dominica’s biggest contributors to the economy.
