Dominica branch of ADRA building 25 new homes for families who lost theirs from passage of Erika2/18/2016 Dominica branch of the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA), is building 25 new homes for families who lost theirs from the passage of tropical storm Erika, on 27th August 2015.
ADRA is overseeing the rebuilding efforts as two teams comprised of 50 Adventist volunteers each take turns traveling to Dominica for one-week assignments from the U.S. Virgin Islands, and nine neighboring islands. “ADRA is making good on its promise to assist government with housing for the displaced,” said Priscilla Prevost, the local ADRA project coordinator. Prevost said ADRA and the volunteers have begun construction of three 3-bedroom homes and five 2-bedroom homes. ADRA says it expects to complete the first three homes in April, and five more by July. A total of 25 homes will be built over the next year. “Government is providing the land and infrastructure, and ADRA is providing labor and funds,” Prevost said.
