Dominica Electoral Commission Member Wayne James, said the Commonwealth of Dominica is being governed by laws, so it is not about what Prime Minister Skerrit personally feels is the best way forward. Mr. James was speaking on Q95’s ‘Hot Seat’ program hosted by the CCM President Loftus Durand on Thursday. James said the majority of Dominicans, including himself, have said the laws are on the books and all that’ needs to be done is to implement the laws. Mr. James asserted that Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit is wrong to be giving the impression that he needs outside individuals to come to Dominica to tell us the best way forward in relation to cleaning a voters list and issuing Voter ID cards”. Mr. James stated that he is pleased the Prime Minister may finally be listening to Dominicans. Meantime, James reiterated to Dominicans that ‘the majority carries’ when things are put to a vote at the Electoral Commission. James claimed there was a unanimous decision by the electoral commission to undertake and exercise the verification process. Mr. James called out Prime Minister Skerrit for repeatedly giving the impression that all of the required funds had been made available to the electoral commission to carry out its functions. James accused Mr. Skerrit of not providing anything in relation to monies needed by the commission to carry out the exercise it promised to the people of Dominica.
