Dominica Electricity Services (DOMLEC) is observing May as Health, Safety and Environment Month5/5/2016 This year’s observance of May as Health, Safety and Environment Month, by the Dominica Electricity Services Company Limited (DOMLEC) is the second of its kind, and will focus on several health and safety tips to benefit DOMLEC’s employees, as well as the general public. The month was officially launched on Wednesday May 4, 2016 at DOMLEC’S conference room at Fond Cole.
General Manager Bertillia McKenzie announced of DOMLEC goal to aspire to achieve world class safety standard by 2020. Mrs. McKenzie said DOMLEC will lead the way in employee and public safety, and will play a lead role in health and safety of the environment. She added that safety, health and the environment is not only a one-month thing for DOMLEC, but will benefit the public throughout the year. DOMLEC’s Health and safety Officer, Brandon Henry stated that the company is aware of the health and safety challenges that the industry faces, and remains committed and prepared to make safety their greatest value. President of DOMLEC’s Sports Club, Josianna Antoine highlighted the planned activities for the month, which include visits to twenty (20) primary schools, from Monday 9th to Friday 20th of May, in the out districts like Trafalgar, Warner, Giraudel and Pointe Mitchel. A walk-a-fun and a family-fun-day are also among other activities scheduled for DOMLEC’s Health Safety and Environment Month. Antoine added “We will also have a Primary School Energy Safety Poster competition, and during the month, a presentation will be made to the Ministry of Health, and to one resident of Pointe Mitchel”.
