Dominica gearing up to host 2 first class cricket matches next month at Windsor Park Sports Stadium11/30/2016 Dominica will host two first class matches next month at the Windsor Park Sports Stadium.
The Windward Islands Volcanoes and the Leeward Island Hurricanes will meet from December 9th- 12th 2016 and the Volcanoes will face off against the Barbados Pride from December 16th- 19th 2016. According to a release, the announcement of the change in venue from Kensington Oval in Barbados to the Windsor Park Sports Stadium for the fifth round match against Pride was made by the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) on Saturday, November 26th. The Round 4 and Round 5 Matches in the WICB Professional Cricket League Digicel SportsMax Regional 4-Day Tournament will get underway from 10:00 a.m. daily. The Dominica Cricket Association (DCA) says tickets will go on sale from December 1st and are only $10 for adults and $5 for children on Days 1, 2 & 3. There will be free entry on Day 1 of each match for students in uniform, accompanied by teachers, and entrance on Day 4 is absolutely free to all. President of the DCA, Emmanuel Nanthan, said, “We’re elated by this latest development that will see Dominica hosting two first class matches in December. There are a number of exciting players coming out of the franchise league and we have an opportunity to see them in action as we look forward to a new birth of West Indies cricket. We hope that everyone comes out to support these matches to underscore the confidence that the WICB has in the DCA to host first class matches and in the people of Dominica to turn out in their numbers to support great cricket.”
