The Government of Dominica says it will provide support to farmers during the construction of the Yorke Valley Bridge which is located in the Layou Valley. That's word from MP for the St Joseph Constituency Kelver Darroux. Darroux says Government will offer assistance to farmers who are inconvenienced during the construction phase. Last week the Ministry of Public Works & Ports announced construction works will soon begin on the Yorke Valley Bridge. The project will be executed in 2 phases - the demolition of the existing one lane bridge, and construction of a 2- lane bridge. The demolition portion of the works will take place between September 25 and 29 2016. However; the road will be closed from September 21, and the project is expected to last for one year. Construction of the new Yorke Valley Bridge which is estimated at over 11million EC dollars is being made possible through grant funding from the People's Republic of China. Meantime, the Ministry of Public Works & Ports is advising motorists travelling east of Yorke Valley to use the Jimmit/Warner Road or the Canefield/Pond Casse Road.
