Dominica Government to take all risks in construction of small geothermal energy plant

Prime Minister, Roosevelt Skerrit, says the DLP Government will go ahead alone in the construction of a small geothermal energy plant here.
There has been much debate here over geothermal explorations here but PM Skerrit is of the view that such a plant will reduce energy costs here significantly.
PM Skerrit, addressing parliament on Monday on a proposed geothermal bill, said the Government will take all risks associated with the construction of this plant.
This after negotiations with many corporations on the construction of this plant fell through.
PM Skerrit says this provides a better opportunity for the Government and people of Dominica to not only own the resources but to own entirely the geothermal plant development.

The construction of the small plant is set to commence in 2017.
