Dominica Meteorological Service reports a tropical wave about 2140 miles east of the Lesser Antilles8/19/2016 According to weather forecaster from the Dominica Meteorological Service, Marshall Alexander, a tropical wave located about 2140 miles or 3445 km east of the Lesser Antilles is producing an area of disorganized cloudiness and shower activity.
Environmental conditions are expected to be conducive for gradual development, and a tropical depression could form early next week, while the system moves westward at about 15 mph across the tropical Atlantic Ocean. Formation chance through 48 hours is low at 10 percent, and formation chance through 5 days is at medium 50 percent. Model analysis and guidance indicates that further development is expected, and the system is expected to approach the Lesser Antilles by Wednesday next week. The Dominica Meteorological Service will continue to provide updates on the progress of the system, and advises residents of Dominica to monitor the progress of the system
