Dominica’s Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit reportedly participated in a one-day Caribbean Cooperation meeting at the Prefecture in Guadeloupe, on Thursday, June 9, to discuss security with French Caribbean Authorities.
The discussions were held with the French ambassador to the OECS, Eric de La Moussaye and the Prefect of Guadeloupe, Jacques-Billant. Prime Minister Skerrit said, “We dealt with a number of subjects: the issue of security, the issue of illegal immigration, the issue of fisheries, areas of customs cooperation; we dealt with matters of mutual assistance, in legal mutual assistance, cooperation on fighting drug trafficking, among other matters of security concerns. We also discussed the issue of tropical storms and hurricanes”. Mr Skerrit also thanked the people of Guadeloupe and the French Republic, saying they were extremely helpful to Dominica, and that he will always be grateful, for the assistance received after the passage of Tropical Storm Ericka, in August 2015.
