Dominica will seek to raise awareness on the issues affecting women as it joins the rest of the world in celebrating “International Women’s Day” Tuesday. International Women’s Day is a world recognized and renowned day to celebrate women, those who have achieved and been successful in different areas – be it social, economic, political or entrepreneurial. And the Bureau of Gender Affairs says this day will focus mainly on increasing the awareness on all the inequalities that seem to exist among women. Acting Director of the Bureau of Gender Affairs is Kyra Paul. She says this day will also be used as one of reflection. Women and men are encouraged to wear something purple on this day, to showcase their support for ending violence against women and girls.
