Dominican Historian, Dr Lennox Honychurch sees issues with the site selected for the construction of the recently completed Five Star Kempinski Resort and Spa in the Cabrits, Portsmouth swamp area.
The fears and concerns of flooding has now proven to be a reality, as recently, severe flooding has been affecting guest experience at the Resort. Many local Engineers and citizens are now questioning the competence of the engineers & contractors, who constructed this resort. Lennox Honychurch was quoted as saying the following, “the whole slope across from the Cabrits swamp feeds into the swamp and Kempinski area. With increased housing on the slopes and the new culverts guiding more water under the road into the swamp, we can expect to see more of this in the future. I drew some attention to this, but some said I am an obstructionist, that I am not an engineer. I know the swamp since childhood, so nowadays I’m just watching".
