Mrs. Marcella Larocque-Menal, a Dominican residing in Arima, Trinidad, spoke to q95 about her experience with a major earthquake, which occurred in Trinidad yesterday afternoon at about 5:45PM. Ms Larocque-Menal says the experience was frightening. Meanwhile, an unofficial report which indicated that Trinidad & Tobago was under Tsunami watch is said to be false. Here is Ms Larocque-Minal with more: The UWI Seismic Research Centre on that day advised of a preliminary reading of 6.2 on the Richter scale. Trinidadians immediately took to social media Facebook, saying the shake-up was the worst most of them had ever felt.
The location of the ‘quake was given as Latitude: 11.04N and Longitude: 60.70W, with an origin depth of 29 kilometres, with its centre closer to Scarborough, Tobago. According to the University of the West Indies, it was felt 16 km SSE of Scarborough, 78 km NE of Arima and 99 km NE of Port of Spain.
