Photo Credit: Dominica News Online Dominican Sprinter Luan Gabriel got off to a great start, and captured three (3) gold medals on Saturday, at the UMES Collegiate Lid Lifter Invitational on Saturday.
Gabriel who is from Bioche, was among two athletes who represented Dominica at the London Olympics in 2012. She competed in the 200m and the 400m runs, as well as the 4x400m relay. She captured gold in all of the three. Gabriel, a former Olympian, completed the 200m in 26.03 seconds, the 400m in 59.57 seconds and with her team mates, Jayla Lane, Dypna Umunakwe and Lenneisha Gilbert, completed the 4×400 relay in 3:55.86. She subsequently wrote on her Facebook page, “I had my first Track Meet Yesterday. It was more like a training to me. I wanted much more out of this meet, but it’s just the first meet. So I’ll keep looking forward, because that’s the only thing I could do. I won all my events. Thank God for a successful and injury free meet”.
