A Dominican teenager, who is a suspected in the stabbing death of another Guadeloupe teenager has been arrested, and is now in custody.
France-Antilles reports indicate that the 15-year old was arrested this morning, at the home of a relative in Saint-François, where he was hiding. It is expected that investigators will soon be questioning him. Earlier reports indicated that the suspect stabbed another teenager named Yohann Equinoxe to death, in an area called Abymes, on Tuesday September 13, 2016, at around 5:45 pm, with either a pair of scissors or a knife. Reports further stated that Yohann Equinoxe was stabbed multiple times after classes, while on his way home, and the attacker had fled the scene. Unconfirmed reports also indicated that the incident may have been over a cellphone. The suspect was identified within hours after the incident. He is said to have been born in Dominica on August 2, 2001. Officials in Guadeloupe revealed that investigations have begun against the teenager, for voluntary manslaughter and attempted theft with a weapon. He faces a sentence of life behind bars, if found guilty.
