This appeal from the country's Culture Minister Justina Charles. Charles is also encouraging Dominicans to promote and wear the country's national wear as well as to consume the local cuisine. The minister made these remarks during the official launch of the 2016 Independence season over the weekend. Dominica is this year celebrating its 38th anniversary of independence. Culture Minister Justina Charles This year's independence launch coincided with the Annual Titiwi Festival which was hosted in the community of Layou. And MP for the St Joseph Constituency Kelver Darroux also made his own call for persons to partake in the Independence activities.
